mold process

This project I started over a year ago and I had the intent of updating the descriptions. I am developing a series of casted glass vases. I will show in these posts photo's and description of the process .I will photograph what I have acomplished up to now. The photo below is the start of the mold I made for the vase blank.

These pictures show the process I am using to create the molds for this project. The first post shows a picture of the core of the vase being made . This post shows the outer shell of the vase mold and a wax blank made from the mold.

This post shows the fish molds. First I carve and model out of plaster of paris., next I make a rubber mold of the plaster and pour waxes of the molds.

The next step is to add the fish waxes to the vase blank, these are attached and chased to the blank.

As work progressed on the vase I decided to have some smaller fish on the inside , so I made a core mold so when I pour a blank of the vase the fish will be on the interior of the vase also.

Here we see some details of some test castings I have done. My intention for the vase is to have the fish at the top or rim of the vase in an amber color with a transition to blue towards the bottom.
